院校概述

About the school
Kimbolton School is an independent day and boarding school in Cambridgeshire for pupils aged
between 4 and 18 years. lt is a registered charity, of which its governors are trustees. The school was founded in the early 17th century and maintains its Christian beliefs and traditions while valuing those of other cultures. In 1951 the senior school moved to its present site at Kimbolton Castle. The preparatory school is a short walk away in Kimbolton village. There are two boarding houses which provide for pupils from Year 7. Both houses are in Kimbolton village, in close proximity to the school site.

Since the previous full inspection in 2011, the school has constructed a new science and
mathematics centre in the senior school.

What the school seeks to do
The school sets out to create a caring, challenging environment in which all pupils are given the
opportunity to flourish and fulfil their potential through a wide variety of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. lt aims to enable pupils to develop tolerance, respect for others, self-discipline, integrity and a sense of social responsibility, and to challenge pupils to discover their talents, develop socially and excel.

About the pupils
Nationally standardised test data provided by the school indicate that the ability of pupils
throughout the school is above average. Pupils are drawn from surrounding counties; some members of the boarding community are from overseas. Pupils come mainly from professional families and reflect the ethnic composition of the local area. The school has identified 131 pupils as having special educational needs or disabilities (SEND), including dyslexia and dyspraxia, 40 of whom receive additional support. Two pupils have Educational and Health Care (EHC) plans. Eighteen pupils have English is an Additional Language (EAL), all of whom receive extra support. The school provides extra activities aimed to extend the learning of those identified as the most able but open to allpupils.

校长理念

Welcome to our website, which provides a brief taster of life at Kimbolton.

We are an HMC independent (‘private’) day and boarding school for boys and girls of almost 1100 pupils aged 4 to 18. Based near Cambridge, the Preparatory School caters for the 4 to 11 year olds at one end of the village, whilst a brisk walk through our parkland brings you out into the Castle grounds which house the Senior School for 11 to 18 year olds. We are fortunate to have such an attractive campus, centred on Kimbolton Castle, which we purchased from the Dukes of Manchester in the middle of the last century.

While academia underpins all that we do, above all else, it is our warm, inclusive, family atmosphere which sets us apart. And that is not just us saying so, it is supported by favourable inspection comments too, including our most recent ISI Inspection report which praised almost every aspect of school life. Our staff are enthusiastic and dedicated. Our pupils are motivated to achieve their very best in all aspects of school life. We strongly believe that developing our pupils into well-rounded individuals is key, to which end we provide a wealth of opportunities in sport, music, drama and a wide variety of other pursuits across the whole age range.

Kimbolton School has a rich history, stretching back over 400 years. Many of our pupils from Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire are able to trace their family line through generations of Old Kimboltonians. Having said this, we are also alive to the present and our 21st Century school embraces pupils from far and wide. Many of our current pupils, whether boarding or day, have been with us throughout their learning, developing and moving through the school with their friends.

In the last decade we have seen many improvements to our facilities, the latest of which are a new entrance building and library at the Preparatory School and a new Science and Maths Centre at the Senior School. The latter was the final of many exciting new developments that we published in our last five-year School Development Plan. Our latest Plan, which covers 2015-2019, is below and will shortly be replaced by our new 2020-2024 one.

There are so many opportunities available to the Kimbolton pupil, do come and see for yourself. I would be delighted to meet you and I can assure you of a warm welcome.
